Music at Strawderman
Though not an official activity (other than choir), music is part of every aspect of our day at Strawderman. From raising the flag in the morning to gathering for Goodnight Circle in the evening, our most cherished traditions include music and melody. Meals are often accompanied by impromptu cabin songs, often resulting in a full-throated contest between cabins. Whether it’s a refrain sung round a campfire, the sound of instrumental accompaniment played by a gifted camper, or the lilt of our choirs lifting their collective voice in chorus, one thing is certain. On any given day (or night), music can be heard wafting its way throughout camp, into the woods, and up into the hills, where it mingles with the Shenandoah air and breathes harmonious life into the enduring story that is Strawderman.
